Something To Treasure

cardbox

Take a box, just a little wooden box, slap on a bit of paint and Hey Presto! a treasure chest any little (or not so little) girl would adore. Okay, there’s a bit more to it than that but nothing difficult. To start with I removed the hinges and, with a fine grade glass-paper, sanded any rough bits from inside and outside the lid and base. I applied two coats of Gesso primer, sanding between coats, to give a white surface to paint on. Although it’s called “Liner” you can also paint with the Marabu Metallic Liners. These are what I used for the two coats of blue over the whole box and then dabbed purple and olive green through a Pergamano stencil to add the decoration. When everything was dry I replaced the hinges and added the clasp (supplied) to the front of the box. Then comes the bling bit. Taking a sheet of Crystal Stickers I arranged them in a pattern around the box. It is perfectly possible, I’m told, to keep this decoration to a minimum but if, like me, you just can’t help yourself – stick loads on!
