Creative Metal

If you find yourself in search of a new outlet for your creativity then Creative Metal from Walnut Hollow could be just the thing. The beginner’s kit contains all the tools you need and packs of brass, copper or aluminium are available in three sizes.   The kit costs £29.99 and the metal packs begin at £2.90, so for under £35 you can start a whole new craft.
The Birthday card in the picture has been made using the brass strips and the design borders (£4.60 for 3) and the Christmas card (yes, I know Christmas has gone but I was really pleased with how this card turned out) used the aluminium squares. First I stamped the snowflake onto the metal with permanent ink then embossed over the design with the tools from the kit (good instructions included), then I cut it out with the scissors provided and coloured it with Alcohol Inks before mounting it on the card. I am now a total convert to Alcohol Inks. They give fabulous colour to the metal and they will go onto all sorts of glossy surfaces, including Mirri card and Peel Off stickers! What’s more, they are really easy to use; just put a few drops of your chosen colours onto the applicator and dab it on. It dries quickly and the bottles last for ages. I’m going to try the Tiny Tins next.
