Using punches

Craft
punches are perfect for making easy
embellishments.
From the smallest to the
biggest, they are all simple to use and within minutes you can produce
a
wide array of special effects for your cards and scrapbook
pages. Punched shapes can be used
as ornaments and accents
and are especially eye-catching when cut from metallic paper, brightly
contrasting coloured
paper or paper that has been inked and heat embossed with sparkle
powder.
Sometimes just rounding the corners of cards or layers can be enough to add elegance. Often the same shape is available in a number of different sizes allowing you to create a layered effect quickly and easily.
What can you punch? Small punches, particularly those with fine detail are best kept for paper but larger, simple shapes will usually punch cardstock up to about 220gsm, thin foam, thin sheet metal such as used for embossing, wallpaper, acetate, wrapping paper, handmade paper and mulberry paper.
Try looking for different ways to use the shapes. E.g. Triangles make good trees and leaves don’t have to be green!
